With a Glendale Police Officer

Ride-Along Program

Citizens interested in observing a patrol officer's duties from a unique and close-up perspective may wish to ride along for a portion of a shift. A "ride-along" lasts four to six hours. It should be understood that the ride-along program is a "privilege" and not a right.

To be eligible:

  • You must live, work, or go to school in the City. Other exceptions need to be approved by the Chief of Police.
  • You are a current recruit for a police position with the Glendale Police Department.
  • You are at least 16 years old and have permission from your parents. Juvenile applicants should be a part of a school program. If you are 18 or older, you do not need parental permission.
  • You must provide your name and date of birth for a check of any criminal history. There is a two-week waiting period to allow the background check to be completed.

 Additionally:

  • The length of the ride will be limited to a maximum of six (6) hours.
  • You may ride only once every six (6) months.
  • You must sign a waiver of liability each time you ride.
