Officer Doug Byrne Officer Down Memorial

Officer Doug Byrne was killed in an automobile accident while responding to a medical emergency call at approximately 8:00 pm. A vehicle stopped directly in front of his patrol car at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Norfolk Street, causing him to take evasive action. Officer Byrne suffered massive injuries when he was ejected from the patrol car as it rolled over. He was transported to Swedish Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries early the following morning. Officer Byrne was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Gulf War. He had served with the Aurora Police Department for 3 years and had previously served with the Glendale Police Department for 6 years. Prior to becoming a full time officer, he began as a reserve officer for Glendale in 1996.

Marshal Kenneth Baker

Marshal Kenneth Baker Officer Down Memorial

Marshal Baker was killed when his patrol car struck the back of another vehicle in downtown Glendale. Marshal Baker had served with the agency for two years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
